Luther is a British psychological police drama created by Neil Cross for BBC One. It is still running.
John Luther was a brilliant police detective with a knack for getting inside the minds of criminals, until he suffered a nervous breakdown after attempting to kill a murderous paedophile. As the series opens, he has returned to London Metropolitan Police's serious crimes unit to find his name tainted, his victim in a coma and his marriage in tatters. He attempts to lose himself in his work, dealing with London's most twisted and dangerous criminals, only to find himself getting in way over his head, thanks to corrupt colleagues, blackmailing gangsters and a beautiful sociopath who has become obsessed with him.
Westphall connections in LutherEdit
- In the (untitled) fifth episode of the first season of the series, Luther tells his colleague to contact Detective Munch in New York's Special Victims Unit; this is a reference to the character of John Munch, then a regular character in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which is indeed set in New York.
